September has arrived! This means many kids are heading back to school or some are doing online learning. This year has brought a lot of uncertainty and we have had to adjust to the new norm during the pandemic.
We are happy to announce that Honbu is open with social distancing measures in place. We allow up to 8 students per class. For this reason we have reduced our class times, and will be offering instead two 1 hour classes Mondays and Wednesdays (7:15pm-8:15pm and 8:30pm-9:30pm). Kids classes are also available Mondays and Wednesdays 6pm-7pm.
On August 04, our Hamilton dojo reopened its doors led by sensei Len Marcotte. They have had a successful reopening and have implemented health and safety protocols to keep everybody safe.
Kitchener / Waterloo dojo also opened their doors on September 01 with safety measures in place. Sensei Thasneem and his students are doing an amazing job and we are happy to hear everybody is safe and enjoying their workouts.
Finally, the JCCC has welcomed back their karate classes, offering outdoor lessons with safety measures in place. All students must wear a mask during karate classes and distancing measures will be in place. Congratulations Sensei Mark Uyeda and Sensei Peter Hanzal on the relaunching of karate classes. Although we know it is an adjustment to be outdoors, you have made the necessary changes to adjust to this new norm. We thank you and look forward to seeing all our JCCC students.
Unfortunately, due to COVID, many dojos have not yet been able to re-open. We are closely monitoring the situation and will send out updates as they become available.
Online classes will continue to be offered via Zoom on Tuesday at 7:30pm-9:30pm. If you are not on the Zoom list and would like to join online classes, please send us an email so we can add you to the list.
Please note, online classes are $10 per household/per class payable via e-transfer to email@example.com.
As the situation evolves and with back to school around the corner, we will analyze and make changes where necessary. We thank everybody who has been reaching out and keeping in touch through zoom classes and via email. It is during this time that we unite as a karate family. It's great to see many of you during our zoom classes as this shows the dedication that our students have. Thank you!
